All too often, we are not willing to be patient. We do not wait to gather all the necessary information to find out what is true. Because of our impatience, we jump at the first piece of information that seems to have a degree of credence to it. Unfortunately, what we believe affects our lives and how people perceive us. Our beliefs also directly affect the lives of others around us. Many relationships have been destroyed because people have believed things about others that are simply not true.
We should take any new information that we have and set it aside for a while. That is what I do when I disagree with what others say is true about someone else. This is especially true when I’m not quite sure about something myself. After a period of time, when I have more information, I can re-look those things that I set aside. They will then make more sense to me. When I do not have adequate information, I will not jump to conclusions about things that may not be true. I will try to wait until I have adequate information and can make a well-informed decision.
