I do not blame anyone for not wanting to believe something if it is not true. None of us want to be deceived. We probably all know someone that is gullible and will swallow anything that they are told. We do not want to be naive. In the process of trying to keep from looking like a fool we run the risk of actually being one.
I already believe in God and have already worked through many things that can hinder someone from placing their whole hearted trust in God and the Bible. I have been led to believe a lot of things were true, that I later decided were not true. I believe the risk of deception is something that goes along with seeking God. In our quest for God we will find a lot of things that are not God.
I came across some bad situations during my search for God. It was not necessarily a bad thing for me. What could have been bad has worked out for my good. I see things more clearly now. I would not wish what I went through on anyone- but in the long run I know it has helped me.
One thing seems quite evident. We tend not to find things we are not looking for. If we are not looking for God we probably will not find him. What happens to a lot of us is we do not want to look stupid. If God is not real we might look stupid. We end up looking for all the information that says God does not exist. Then we end up believing there is no God because we become delusional based on our attempt to convince ourselves there is no God.
Look at anything that we want to believe. If we want to believe something bad enough we can convince yourself it is true. Reality often proves differently.
