So it’s interesting to see that when everything is falling apart people have a tendency to run and hide. Instead of running and hiding we should be thinking. Not only should we be thinking but our thinking mode should be in overdrive. That’s exactly where inventions come from. We find ourselves in one of those situations where we don’t know what to do, but if we really want to find resolve for the problem it becomes necessary that we put in overtime when it comes to thinking.
You would think that we would naturally be thinking about what it takes to be successful at whatever it is that we are doing. But because we are lazy by nature we become more concrete in our thinking instead of abstract. We only begin to think abstractly when the pressure is on and there is a fear of loss. Then we start looking below the surface, we start digging into things in ways that we had not done before.
It’s interesting that the very circumstances that cause us to become inventive are the very circumstances that we avoid. The circumstances come from pressure which comes from not having answers to the problems that we are dealing with. See, we always want to have answers. We do not seek to be in situations where we don’t have the answers to problems that tend to crop up from time to time.
So let’s not be afraid to try new things. Let’s not be afraid to take risks. When we take a risk it implies that we are doing something that deals with the unknown. It’s the unknown that we avoid, but it’s also being in situations where we don’t have all the answers that cause us to come up with some of the best ideas imaginable.
