This does not mean we will not make mistakes. None of us will ever be good while here on earth. We will only be better. Jesus said, “There is only One who is good” (Matthew 19:16 NASU). We are all evil by nature. In Isaiah 64: 6 NASU we read, “All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.”
So what does it mean to become a Christian? When we become a Christian we become a new creature. We have a brand new life.“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come” (2 Cor 5:17 NASU).
One of the most important things about becoming a Christian is that we take on the righteousness of Christ. We read in Php3:9 NASU, “Not having a righteousness of my own derived from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ”.
Our righteousness is not going to cut it for God. We cannot enter into Gods world based on our goodness. We get there based on the righteousness of Christ. We get his righteousness in exchange for our sins. “He Himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” (1Peter 2:24 NASU).
Has His death done any good for you?
